ABOUT JOHN FRANKLIN ENDERS
Biomedical scientist who found the cure to the measles and was known as the 'The Father of Modern Vaccines.' He received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1954 for helping to discover viruses that grow on different tissues.
He attended Yale University and served in the army.
He found the cure for the measles by doing trials on 1,500 mentally retarded children in New York City.
His father was CEO of the Hartford National Bank.
He helped develop the polio vaccine along with Jonas Salk .
