ABOUT JOHN EDRICH
Fearless batsman considered one of the finest of his generation, he represented England in Tests from 1963 to 1976.
He was a military man who played cricket for the Combined Services in 1956 and 1957.
He was diagnosed with a rare form of incurable leukemia known as Waldenstrom's in 2000.
His four cousins, Eric Edrich, Bill Edrich , Geoff Edrich, and Brian Edrich, all played first-class cricket.
He was succeeded by the wicket-keeper-batsman Alan Knott as captain of the English ODI team in 1975.
