ABOUT JOHN DORAHY

Former rugby league player nicknamed "Joe Cool" who was named to both the Western Suburbs Magpies and Illwarra Rugby League Teams of the Century. He later became a coach and won the 1994 Challenge Cup Final with Wigan.

He was born in Wollongong, New South Wales and began his professional rugby career with Wests Wollongong in 1971.

He attempted a political career, running as a member of the Liberal Party for the seat of Keira at the 2011 NSW State Election.

His son, Dane Dorahy, is also a former rugby league player.

He played under head coach Brian Smith while playing for the Illawarra Steelers.
