ABOUT JOHN COPLANS
Known for his black and white self-portraits that examined the aging body, such as "Back with Arms Above" from 1984 and his 1968 "Serial Imagery" collection.
He moved to America in 1960 after working as a World War II photographer.
He published much of his work in the magazine Artforum and witnessed its founded in 1962 San Francisco.
His Jewish family lived in the Pale of Settlements.
He created retrospective work of Andy Warhol .
