Lead guitarist and founding member of the San Francisco psychedelic rock band Quicksilver Messenger Service who also played with Copperhead.
He got his first guitar at age twelve from his parents.
His customized guitar was put up for display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
His parents were both trained classical pianists.
His brother was a member of Huey Lewis and the News.
