ABOUT JOE GIBBON
Former left-handed reliever and spot starter who won a World Series his rookie year with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1960. He went on to play for the San Francisco Giants , Cincinnati Reds and Houston Astros .
He played baseball at Hickory High School in Mississippi.
Used almost exclusively as a starter in 1961, he set career-highs in wins (13) and innings (195.1) while posting a solid 3.32 ERA.
He had four sons and a daughter.
Hall-of-Fame second baseman Joe Morgan was his teammate on the Cincinnati Reds.
