ABOUT JOE CHRISTOPHER

Former Major League Baseball outfielder who played for the New York Mets, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Boston Red Sox. His professional career lasted from 1959 until 1966.

He was the first MLB player from the Virgin Islands.

In 1960, he helped the Pittsburgh Pirates win the World Series. Despite his major career ending in 1966, he played in minor leagues until 1968.

He was born and raised in Frederiksted, US Virgin Islands.

His Pittsburgh Pirates team won the 1960 World Series following the famous game seven walk-off home run hit by Bill Mazeroski .
