ABOUT JIMMY NOLEN
Pioneer of the chicken scratch lead guitar style who contributed that sound to many James Brown performances.
He began his musical training at age nine on the violin, and was inspired by T-Bone Walker to take up guitar.
He produced his signature chicken scratch sound by pressing strings against the fingerboard and quickly releasing them, while strumming with the opposite hand.
He grew up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
His guitar technique was inspired by the work of B.B. King .
