Light-hitting but solid defensive catcher who made his MLB debut in 2005 for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

He played baseball and football at Marianna High School.

He joined the Miami Marlins in 2013.

He was born and raised in Marianna, Florida.

Shortstop Orlando Cabrera was his teammate on the Angels.
