Columnist and culture critic known as the Vice President of News and Men's Programming for Interactive One. She wrote extensively for Ebony.com, and her work has been featured in Mic, The Washington Post, and The New York Times.

Though successful on mainstream news outlets, she also had an award-winning blog, The Beautiful Struggler.

She has won three Black Weblog Awards and made television appearances on CNN, MSNBC, and NPR.

Her father, David, was a member of the Black Panther Party. She has a daughter, Naima Freedom Lemieux-Giles.

She penned the foreword to the 2015 rerelease of Black Macho and the Myth of the Superwoman by Michele Wallace .
