ABOUT JAMES HENRY
Nineteenth-century Irish poet and classical scholar whose poems were published posthumously in the New Oxford Book of Victorian Verse and in the Penguin Book of Victorian Verse. During his lifetime, he self-published five collections of poetry.
He was educated by Unitarian schoolmasters and later attended Trinity College, Dublin.
He published several satirical pamphlets and lengthy narrative poems.
With his wife, Anne Jane Patton, he had three children.
His poetry has been compared to that of Robert Browning .
