ABOUT JACK HOLMES
Right-handed batsman who played for Sussex from 1922 to 1939, including as captain for his final four years.
He grew up in Surrey where he honed his skills among friends before joining Sussex.
From 1930 to 1932 he played cricket for the Royal Air Force cricket team, as he was a flight attendant in the air force.
He had a son, Rodney Holmes, who also had a cricket career for Sussex.
He was one of the early stars for Sussex, who went on to have players such as Chris Adams .
