ABOUT J PRINCE
Prominent Houston, Texas rap figure who is known for being the CEO of Rap-A-Lot Records. He founded the label in 1986, and has garnered the reputation of being a stiff promoter of Houston rap and hip-hop. He's made his mark by trying to bring up-and-coming and underground artists into the rap scene.
The first prominent album he produced via Rap-A-Lot Records was Raheem's The Vigilante in 1988.
He served as the first boxing manager for Floyd Mayweather, Jr. In February 2015, he released the diss track "Courtesy Call" against a litany of rappers he felt guilty of wrongdoing, including Lil Wayne and Diddy . Over the years, he has not been shy about voicing his displeasures with people in the entertainment industry, in particular trying to organize a rap show to protest the 2022 Grammy Awards.
His son J. Prince Jr. is largely credited with having discovered the rapping talents of Drake .
He has collaborated with rapper Scarface , who has been a Rap-A-Lot records signee.
