ABOUT J. P. MARTíNEZ

Major league outfielder that was first signed by the Texas Rangers as an international free agent in March of 2018. Prior to signing with Texas, he played multiple seasons in the Cuban National Series, as well as the Canadian-American League.

He initially began playing baseball professionally at the young age of 16. He eventually signed his first professional contract with the Indios de Guantánamo of the Cuban National Series.

He hit his first career major league home run while facing the Minnesota Twins on August 27, 2023. He played in just 17 games as a rookie with the Texas Rangers that season. Prior to this time, he was a member of the Cuban men's national team.

He was born and raised in Baracoa, Cuba.

He recorded his first career MLB hit while facing Alex Cobb .
