Ivan Fischer
ABOUT IVAN FISCHER
Grammy-nominated composer and conductor. He was appointed Principal Artist of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment in 2006. He founded the Hungarian Mahler Society.
He studied piano, violin, cello, and composition as a student in Budapest and was mentored by Hans Swarowsky while attending the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
His United States conducting debut was with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra in 1983.
His older brother Ádám also became a conductor.
He was nominated for a Grammy Award for his performance of "Così fan tutee" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart .
