ABOUT ISAIAH MARTINEZ

American wrestler known for winning the 157-pound NCAA championship as a redshirt freshman, going undefeated in 2015. He was named Freshman of the Year for his efforts.

He was a three-time state champion in high school (at 140 pounds, 152, and 160). He compiled a career record of 205-7.

He lost his first career collegiate match in January of 2016, his sophomore year, falling to Penn State's Jason Nolf.

He was born to Alfred and Yvonne Martinez and has three siblings.

After becoming the first wrestler since Cael Sanderson to go undefeated as a freshman, it was the Sanderson-coached Penn State team that handed Martinez his first loss.
