ABOUT IRVING FINE
Elegant, graceful composer whose work combined neoclassical influences with romantic and serial elements. He belonged to the Boston Six or Boston School.
He received a Master's degree from Harvard University, where composer Walter Piston mentored him. He was also taught by Serge Koussevitzky and Nadia Boulanger .
He taught many composers who went on to have prolific careers, including Gustav Ciamaga and Noel Lee.
He was married to his wife Verna until his death.
He was a close associate of Aaron Copland .
