ABOUT IBRAHIM SAEED

Known as a journalist and editor for such prominent Indian Kannada publications as Sanmarga and Prajavani, he also had a career as a politician, serving as President of India's western state of Jamat-e-Isalmi Hind.

Before founding the Sanmarga weekly publication in the late 1970s, he was an employee at an Indian national bank.

He wrote about and spoke publicly on the cause of Da‘wah (Islamic missionary work).

When he died at the age of sixty-two, following a brief hospitalization, he was survived by eight children. He lived the majority of his life in Mangalore, India.

Like Pakistani politician Muhammad Tahir-ul-qadri , he advocated peaceful dialogue between members of the world's major religions. To this end, Saeed founded an organization called The Association for Communal Harmony and Moral Uplift. (Tahir-ul-qadri was responsible for starting a similar organization, Minhaj-ul-Quran International).
