ABOUT HUGH LAWSON WHITE

Andrew Jackson 's political colleague who succeeded him as a senator from Tennessee, an office he served from 1825 to 1840. He notably led efforts in the Senate to pass the Indian Removal Act of 1830

He founded White's Fort, which eventually became Knoxville, Tennessee.

He was on the commission that bought Florida from Spain.
