American basketball coach and former basketball player famous for coaching the North Carolina Tar Heels. Before launching his coaching career, he played in the NBA for teams like the New York Knicks , the Detroit Pistons , and the Washington Wizards .

He earned a degree in criminal justice from the University of North Carolina in 1992.
