ABOUT HIROTO TAKAHASHI

Righthanded pitcher that was selected as the first overall pick in the 2020 Nippon Professional Baseball draft by the Chunichi Dragons. As a member of Team Japan, he won a gold medal at the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

He first discovered his passion for playing as a young boy growing up.

In the gold medal match against the United States, he struck out Mike Trout and Paul Goldschmidt . Team Japan eventually won the game with a score of 3-2. On July 7, 2022, Takahashi set a club record for fastest pitch thrown by a Japanese pitcher, clocking in at 98.2 miles per hour (158 kilometers per hour).

He is a native of Owariasahi City, Japan.

He won a gold medal playing with Shohei Ohtani during the 2023 WBC.
