Inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2002, he coached the University of Texas golf team to 21 Southwest Conference championships.
He attended Austin High School in Texas.
He coached and mentored some of the top professional golfers of his time.
He grew up in Austin, Texas.
He coached Masters winner Ben Crenshaw .
