ABOUT HARRY DEVLIN
Known for his illustrations and cartoons for Collier's magazine, he won numerous honors from the National Cartoonists Society. He also created drawings of Victorian buildings and illustrated works of children's literature.
He worked during World War II in the Naval Intelligence department of the United States Navy and created detailed illustrations of enemy aircraft.
He and his wife collaborated on the writing and illustration of numerous children's book, including a bestselling 1963 work titled Old Black Witch.
He and his artist and author wife, Dorothy Wende, became parents to seven children.
He and his contemporary, Academy Award-winning animator Joseph Barbera , both worked as cartoonists for Collier's magazine.
