ABOUT HANS CHRISTIAN LUMBYE
Danish composer mainly known for his light compositions such as The Champagne Galop, and The Copenhagen Steam Railway Galop. He also composed mazurkas, polkas, and waltzes.
He studied music when he was young and began playing the trumpet in a military band as a teenager.
He was the music director and composer for Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen for 29 years.
He had two sons, Carl Christian and Georg August, who both became musicians and took over his orchestra after his death.
He was frequently compared to Johann Strauss , another popular composer in his time.
