He attended Boca Ciega High School in Florida.
His best offensive season was his 1964 rookie season in which he hit .274.
His father Max pitched 14 seasons in the major leagues, recording a career ERA of 3.01.
He played alongside talented right-handed hitting first baseman Orlando Cepeda on the Giants.
