Radio personality remembered for being the first black radio sports announcer in American history. He was the host of programs like Talk Show and was an announcer for Negro League Baseball games.

He was raised in Washington, D.C. and attended Howard University.

During his time with WBLS in New York City, he hosted the region's highest-rated show, attracting more than four million listeners nightly.

He was married and had three children.

He and Donnie Simpson are both black radio show hosts who broke color barriers during their careers.
