Legendary anchor of Los Angeles' KTLA Channel 5 news who became a fixture of the station's broadcasts in 1975.
He started with Los Angels broadcasting news in 1960 and by the mid 2000s, he'd become the longest-running news anchor in the history of television.
In addition to his newscasting work, he also set several world aviation records in speed and altitude, authored two books and appeared as himself in numerous films.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York.
When Pope John Paul II visited Southern California, Fishman was one of the main reporters out to cover the event.
