ABOUT HABIB JALIB
Poet and revolutionary who spoke out against oppression and martial law in Pakistan. His poetry collections include Sir-e-Maqtal, Harf-e-Haqq, and Gumbad-e-Bedar.
He began his career as a proofreader for the Daily Imroze of Karachi.
His literary work was censored in the 1960s as a result of his political affiliations.
He was born in Punjab, British India, and he later settled in Pakistan. He died at the age of sixty-four and was survived by his wife.
Jalib and fellow poet Dom Moraes were both born in India.
