ABOUT GRANT WAHL

Sports journalist who worked for CBS Sports, Fox Sports, and Sports Illustrated.  He died while covering the world cup in Qatar in December of 2022.  He covered 8 World Cup tournaments in his illustrious career as he rose to become one of the most influential journalists covering the global sport of soccer.

He attended high school in Kansas and later graduated from Princeton University in 1996.

In 2009, he wrote The Beckham Experiment, which discusses David Beckham 's move to the United States to compete in the MLS.  In 2011, he considered running for President of FIFA.

He was married to Céline Gounder who was a member of Joe Biden 's transition after he was elected as President. The pair had two dogs at the time of his passing.

In one of his final Tweets, he praised Tyler Adams for how he handled the media. He had a successful podcast called Fútbol with Grant Wahl in which he interviewed many famous influential sports figures including Jeremy Schaap and Jesus Ferreira .
