British writer and restaurant critic who was named Food and Drink Writer of the Year at the 2005 British Press Awards.
He studied English at Keble College, Oxford and began writing restaurant reviews for The Times in 1993.
He made regular television appearances, including the BBC shows Edwardian Supersize Me and The Supersizers Go.
He married Ester Walker in 2010.
