ABOUT GIL ELVGREN
Remembered for his paintings and illustrations of pin-up girls, this popular twentieth-century artist produced most of his work for the Minnesota-based Brown & Bigelow publishing company.
After training at both the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and at Chicago's American Academy of Art, he began working for Stevens and Gross, which was the top Chicago advertising agency at the time.
He created images featuring such mid-twentieth-century stars as Kim Novak and Arlene Dahl .
He spent his youth in St. Paul, Minnesota, and later lived and worked in Chicago and Winnetka, Illinois.
He was inspired by the work of "Gibson Girl" creator Charles Dana Gibson .
