Author and humorist known for his comedic series The Pirates!, which includes The Pirates! in an Adventure with Scientists and The Pirates! in an Adventure with Napoleon. He's also written How Animals Have Sex.
He attended Oxford University to study anthropology and archaeology, but was working as a bartender when he decided to embark on a writing career.
He was nominated for an Annie Award in 2012. The Pirates! in an Adventure with Scientists was adapted into a stop-motion film that was nominated for a Academy Award in 2013.
He grew up in England. He's stated that impressing a woman was the motivation for his writing, although it was more successful in launching his career than winning her heart.
The unnamed Pirate Captain was voiced by Hugh Grant in The Pirates! movie adaptation.
