Georgi Efremov
ABOUT GEORGI EFREMOV
Macedonian scientist and academic who is known for his genetic engineering work in the fields of veterinary and human medicine. He was the former Ambassador and Minister of Science in Macedonia.
He graduated from the Universities of Zagreb and Belgrade.
He taught at universities in Norway and the United States before directing a Macedonian Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research Laboratory.
He was born to a wealthy merchant father, but his family lost all of its money and property under the Yugoslav Communist regime.
He was born in the same year as American Nobel Prize-winning chemist, Walter Gilbert .
