ABOUT GEORGETTE CHEN
Singaporean painter known as a pioneer of modern Singaporean art and the Nanyang style of art. Retrospectives of her work have been staged at the Singapore Art Museum and the National Gallery Singapore.
She spent her childhood traveling between Paris and China with her family. She attended high school in the United States.
In 1982, she was awarded the Cultural Medallion for her contributions to the visual arts in Singapore. On November 1, 2021, Google honored her with a doodle on its homepage.
In 1947, she married Ho Yung Chi.
She and Choy Weng Yang are both famous artists born in Singapore.
