Versatile Welsh athlete who excelled as a half-back on the soccer field while also serving as captain of his Welsh baseball team.
He debuted professionally in soccer for Cardiff City in 1922.
He made 51 appearances for Port Vale from 1926 to 1930.
His brother Frank played rugby league and his nephew Frank Whitcombe Jr played rugby union.
He and goalkeeper Andy Dibble both began their professional careers with Cardiff City.
