George McMillan
ABOUT GEORGE MCMILLAN
Democratic Party politician who served from 1979 until 1983 as Alabama's twenty-third Lieutenant Governor. Previously, he had served in both the Alabama House of Representatives and the Alabama Senate.
After earning a bachelor's degree from Auburn University, he received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
In the late 1980s, he established the popular City Stages music and arts festival in Birmingham, Alabama.
He and his wife Ann became parents to a son and a daughter.
He entered the Alabama gubernatorial primary race in 1982, but was defeated by fellow Democrat George Wallace .
