George Maciunas
ABOUT GEORGE MACIUNAS
Lithuanian-born American artist who was a founder of Fluxus, an international community of artists, architects, composers, and designers.
He fled Lithuania in 1944 to avoid capture by the advancing Russian Army.
He was a prominent organizer of Happenings, a performance art movement.
He was born to Lithuanian architect Alexander M. Maciunas and Russian-born dancer Leokadija. He married Billie Hutching, a poet, just three months before his death.
His "USA Surpasses all the Genocide Records!" was admired by John Lennon .
