ABOUT GEORGE HAMPSON

Entomologist who wrote The Lepidoptera of the Nilgiri District in 1891 and became acting Assistant Keeper of the Natural History Museum in 1901.

His trip to Tamil sparked his desire to study butterflies and moths.

He wrote and published Illustrations of Typical Specimens of Lepidoptera Heterocera of the British Museum.

He had three children with Minnie Frances Clark-Kennedy, who he married on the first of June 1893.

Another famous British entomologist is Peter Twinn .
