ABOUT GEOFFREY HILL

British poet, academic, and editor known for Without Title, For The Unfallen, and other works. He received the Alice Hunt Bartlett Prize for a 1971 work entitled Mercian Hymns.

He studied at Keble College, Oxford and published his first poems during this period.

He was an only child and, in his youth, enjoyed going on long walks with his copy of A Little Treasury of Modern Poetry in hand.

He grew up in Worcestershire, England. He wed Alice Goodman and had a daughter.

He was hailed by Harold Bloom as one of the most important English poets of his generation.
