ABOUT GARY MASON

British heavyweight title champion in 1989 who incurred a 37-1 record with 24 of those 37 victories coming by knockout.

He made his professional debut against Al Malcolm which turned out to be a quick victory thanks to a first round knockout courtesy of Mason.

Outside of boxing, he played in three rugby league matches for the London Crusaders and and appeared on the television show Gladiators.

He died in Wallington, South London after being hit by a van while cycling.

His lone defeat came at the hands of Lennox Lewis in his third to last final fight of his career.
