Swing and jazz guitarist who was a member of the All-American Rhythm Section in Count Basie 's Orchestra.

His first instrument was the banjo.

He believed the guitar was not a stand alone instrument and that it should sound as if it was part of the drums.

His family was musical and he was exposed to the industry at an early age.

In Benny Goodman's big band, Green collaborated with musicians who were members of Duke Ellington's band.
