ABOUT FRANCES CORNFORD

British poet known for Spring Morning, Autumn Midnight, Mountains and Molehills, and other verse collections. Her best-known individual poems include "To a Fat Lady Seen from the Train" and "The Guitarist Tunes Up."

She received a private education in Cambridge. Her debut work, The Holtbury Idyll, was published in 1908.

Her name was almost identical to that of her husband Francis. Her family differentiated the two by calling her FCC and him FMC.

She married fellow poet Francis Cornford. The couple became parents to five children.

She was the granddaughter of the renowned naturalist Charles Darwin .
