U.S. lawyer and activist who said, "If men could get pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament."

After high school she worked several jobs including owning a hat shop and operating elevators.

She was well-known for her flamboyant style and once organized a mass urination on the grounds at Harvard to protest the lack of girl's restrooms.

Her father was employed as a Pullman porter and a taxi driver.

She represented the estate of Billie Holiday and became noticed through her effort to recover owed monies for Holiday's estate.
