ABOUT ELIZABETH JORDAN CARR
Most famous as the first American baby to have been conceived through in-vitro fertilization, this Virginia-born woman grew up to be a journalist for the online edition of the Boston Globe.
Her birth was the result of an in-vitro fertilization procedure engineered by doctors at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
She graduated from Simmons College in Massachusetts and subsequently worked for a Maine-based newspaper.
She and her husband, David Comeau, welcomed a naturally conceived son, Trevor, in 2010.
Though she was the United States' first test tube baby, she followed fourteen other in-vitro births worldwide, including that of Englishwoman Louise Brown , the world's first medically-conceived baby.
