MLB third baseman nicknamed The Walking Man for his ability to draw walks, played mostly for the Washington Senators.

He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

He became the third base coach for the Mets, Angels and Red Sox after retirement.

He had two daughters with his wife Patricia Healy.

Like Mike Schmidt , he was known as one of the best third baseman of his era.
