ABOUT E.BRIGHT WILSON
Researcher who studied the microwave emissions of molecules and helped further research into the building blocks of the universe. The E. Bright Wilson Award in Spectroscopy, which is given out by the American Chemical Society every year, is named in his honor.
He was selected as the chairman of Harvard University's chemistry department, and co-wrote a textbook on quantum mechanics with Linus Pauling .
At the height of the Vietnam War in the late 1960s he was one of the scientists signing an open letter to the government urging an end to the bombing of North Vietnam.
He was born in Gallatin, Tennessee.
He was awarded the National Medal of Science by president Gerald R. Ford .
