Billionaire who headed up the Nashville-based conglomerate Ingram Industries.
He graduated Princeton University with a major in English in 1953.
He donated over $20 million to his alma mater Vanderbilt and was elected to its Board of Trust in 1967.
He and his brother Frederic took over their father's company.
His funeral was attended by many prominent individuals, including golfing legend Arnold Palmer who served as a pallbearer.
