ABOUT E.W. HOWE

An American novelist and newspaper editor, he founded such publications as E.W. Howe's Monthly and the Atchison Daily Globe. His published literary works include The Story of a Country Town (1883) and The Moonlight Boy (1900).

He became the owner of The Golden Globe, a Nebraska-based newspaper, when he was only nineteen years old.

He became known for his witty editorials.

He grew up in Wabash County, Indiana. He died in Atchison, Kansas at the age of eighty-four.

His book, Ventures in Common Sense, featured a foreword by H. L. Mencken .
