She was the 1939 North American women's speed skating champion.

She was inducted to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame, and the National Women's Baseball Hall of Fame.

She married Don Key early in her career.

A movie titled "A League of Their Own" was made about her and her baseball league, and Geena Davis portrayed her.
