He worked as a school groundskeeper for 6 1/2 years and, before that, he was a custodian. He was a custodian at the high school attended by country star and American Idol contestant Kellie Pickler .

He was chosen to make an appearance on the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful.

He became engaged to long-term girlfriend Kristine Bartley in 2014.

He and Frankie Grande both appeared on season 16 of the reality competition Big Brother.
